Here are some stencil pieces we found around USF. As for possible meanings, im not sure, it's up to your interpretations: When "i'm going to murder you and your children" and "the widdle baybee waybee" meet: werd: Jeb? I dunno, but he's in the butts: Black and white cookie, even though she hardly eats: I'm just glad we're not considered sheep:
These are really interesting actually! Is the third picture the same art that is on the stairs in the building? I remember seeing something there so if that isn't where you got your picture from maybe you would like to look at that. I love the first pic though! So cute and yet so fierce :). Also my friend told me there are cute frog shaped holes in the sidewalks where frogs got caught in the wet cement. I know that this isn't exactly art by a person, but maybe it still looks cool? I don't know, maybe you do?
That first picture I have seen around campus in many different places last semester. Has anyone tried searching for the term to see if it has meaning? A group, a place, an idea? Its just rather odd, and yet haunting.
I have seen some of those. They are actually pretty cool. I have no idea about a possible meaning, other than to wow us with random graffiti art. Reminds me of the huge painted wall on 13th street in Gainesville, FL. It's a couple hundred feat long and always has a huge art mural painted on it. They repaint it every couple of years.
Yes, it is the same picture as the business building, it was difficult to get a clear photo of that one though, cause it's pressed in between the steps. The frog shaped holes sound interesting, i'll have to check that out, but if they're not intentional i'm not sure there would be a reason for controversy. Unless comparing graffiti to natural art (which also may lead to defacing public property)gives more reason to the cause. I would be interested to find out peoples ideas on that.
Musing Azreal- I actually searched the term a couple weeks ago, when I saw it. It's linked to a clothing line that sells t-shirts, polos, etc. It seems to be a way to promote their business- as in spreading their label around campus through means of stenciling. What I am curious to know is if it helps their business or not.

ReplyDeleteIn the business building I meant not the 'building.' How vague
